Here in Germany, the evil bay blocks off fire arms related items indiscriminately. Even things like rifle slings or oilers. The displayed message refers to laws that just do not exist in this country. I have not yet been able to get around their system by logging in to other national sites. But they do seem to block some national sites more severely (GB & USA). I sometimes wonder why dealers even bother with epay.

'... which indicates that the item is an assault weapon accessory.'
nothing ambiguous there, if its a scope (ie accessory) for an L whatever then that covers it,
Technically I need a special government permit in NZ to buy into NZ or export a scope, of any value, even if its an air rifle scope and worth ten bucks.
But seriously, the ebay system operates on keywords being found by the ebay computers. You didn't get tipped off by a human, no one would even think that something sold by the tens of thousands every week on ebay like a rifle scope would be an issue. Just stick it back on and don't use ANY WORD to do with restricted items. It doesn't matter if you say in the text 'this is not from an L1A1 assault rifle' its going to flag on the words 'L1A1' and 'assault rifle' and the computer automatically pulls the listing and after that, if you're lucky, a human sends you a pre typed noted that' if they've made a mistake, of course you can try again'.
You don't need to go crazy on the description either, anyone buying an item like this will figure out the details, just make some accurate statement that gives the right idea. ie 'This No32 scope was for a special rifle, the ell fourty two, making it even more rare and hard to find than a regular no32 scope'
If you don't sell here, if it was me I'd list it again and simply don't use the problem words or say anything to draw unwanted attention. Don't even say 'ebay pulled the listing last week', People sell restricted items like barrels and magazines all the time by calling them an enfield box, with no problems, just don't rub it in their computers face and there's no issues.
Welcome to our world, where ebay will make your life hell over the smallest things and with no come back, I am always selling my little bits on eggshells, and by the way, pay pal too. If you sell the scope on ebay and process it through paypal, and its the same firearms rule violation there as with ebay, your account is closed totally, without warning, with all funds inside it, and instantly. You get your funds back after six months, but are not allowed back on paypal again. This has happened to me, and others here, so consider this a fair warning in addition to what just happened with ebay. If you sell the scope and process the payment through ebay, DO NOT describe the item as being in any way as being gun associated or you are doomed. The description title you put on the ad at ebay is also the description that appears at paypal, so in your ebay description, ie the title of the ad, you can't use banned words. Enfield No 32 scope is probably OK.

He's already sold it according to our "quartermaster stores" arena. 3 day auction? Not so much!

I have just checked ebay and the scope and can are still showing for auction so if he has sold it already someone is going to be very upset!!! no sign of the transit chest so it may be that is the item that ebay pulled..

Perhaps a small contribution to Milsurps from the proceeds of the sale is in order here. Especially considering the circumstances

Do you feel a bit "used"?

Well, the eBay auction was still going on this AM when it was listed as "sold" in the classifieds here. Now the auction is gone too.
Not sure why the almighty hurry...?
