I think you guys are starting to rub off on me

I went to Borders to take advantage of their misfortune as I have been doing a couple times a week since it all started. This time around one of the books I picked up was an Osprey Publishing book "The Bruneval Raid" While thumbing through it one of the first things I noticed was that every photograph showing a rifle showed a No.1 while every artist rendering showed a No.4. A year ago it would have never occurred to me to look.

It gets much worse, once you start noticing! I finally got rid of the TV, except for the DVD player, partly because the history programs were so bad! (I think the History Channel would be much better in general w/o pictures. Just do the audio. Or just show random old footage without commentary of any sort.)

It gets way worse. I was at a local gun show this morning and I swear I can pick out a No.1 Mk.III or a No.4 at 20 paces out of the corner of my eye. I wonder what the guy with the No.4 T with the obviously fake scope was asking....so I can laugh...

Just wait until you graduate to debating as to whether "twin ovoid" Enforcers are real or fake..... lol

It does rub off; my wife was watching "Zulu" and commented that the Long Lees and Webley MkVIs were not appropriate for the period; then she went on to spot the Long Lee in one of the "Mummy" films. I guess I ought to refrain from Enfield-spotting comments when i watch TV with her...

"Waterloo" with Christopher Plummer and Rod Steiger: Squares of "Britishicon" infantry holding M-91 Moisin Nagants with fixed bayonets! They may have even chucked in a few old Berdans for the "hard-core" fusilologists.

Not entirely surprising considering it was made using half of the Red Army as extras.

Just picked up a DVD today, almost solely because it had a No1 on the cover... Haven't watched it yet, decided to log on here instead for the moment. It's the latest in the Tom Berringer "Sniper" movies, where, as in all good sequels a decade later, the star's "son" steps up to be the hero.
