Thoughts on 8mm ammo for Turkish 1893.

Picked up a pretty nice Turk 1893 Mauser over the weekend. Would appreciate any thoughts on what feeds it best. Have some Romanian surplus 8mm, and I will be avoiding Turk surplus like the plague. I plan on using commercial for this, but wanted some input as to what has worked well for some fellow Turk owners. Thanks much!

Was it barreled for the later .323" bullets?

In general, most North American ammo is downloaded enough to be reasonably safe an any 8mm, but quite a bit of the European commercial ammo makers assume you aren't stupid or ignorant, and load their ammunition for "modern" rifles quite a bit hotter. Some 0.318" ammo is available, too. Mostly Norma.

My "Turks" are freebored '88 Commision rifles. They been shot with US ammo with no dramas, but less than stellar accuracy.

You are probably wise to avoid the Turkishicon ammo! When it shoots, the bullets just wander off wherever they like in whatever "modern" rifle I've tried!
