I purchased this Garand at the CMP Outlet a few weeks ago.

I purchased this Garand at the CMPicon Outlet a few weeks ago.

    This is their description:

    CMP SPECIAL: (Excellent)
CMP's new grade of M1icon Garand. This rifle consists of a new production stock and handguard set with CMP cartouche, a new production barrel and new web sling.
Receiver and most other parts are refinished USGI, but some parts may be new manufacture.

All of the parts on mine appear to be new. The serial number shows a manufacture date of 1955.
The Throat gauge is less than 2 and the Muzzle is less than 1

I felt that the stock could use some improvement, so I sanded to 320 grit, hand rubbed a couple of coats of tung oil on it and then finished that with feed-n-wax.

Very nice. I purchased one of those a few years ago and later came across a pristine correct stock and made mine a correct rifle.
Those rifles are one of the better deals from the CMPicon.
