    I think the screwed on peened pommel is earlier and scarce. Mine...not so much.

    very nice set , i think you did well , i like the fact that the scabbord/sheath is in such nice condition with the care tag , i think that a big pluss

    mine is thick peened as yours but well worn [got it from my FIL ] it came in the USN gray FG scabbord ,

    Is the care tag original to that knife, or could it maybe have been added? It's a nice touch, but the tag appears to be in better condition then the knife handle and scabbard.

    No slight intended, just asking.

    I have a couple with the tags and they appear mint.

    I think its original to the scabbard. Have you ever seen a care card for sale? The knife is nicer than the pics

    As a matter of fact I have seen the care cards for sale. Around 1990 or 91. The same time as the 1944 stamped sling tag was going around.

    It came from an old collection, purchased by an old friend of mine, Bill Moore of Military Specialties in Newington, CT. I can only take it for what it is now.
    I am thrilled with it.
