Boys Anti-Tank Rifle - Lee Enfield Adaptor

I have been working on these brackets for the Boys AT rifle since January on & off.

I have now got the .22 SMLE attached to the Boys and the trigger linkage now works.

Hopefully will be trialing on the indoor range in the next few days

Looks very interesting, but what exactly is it that you are trying to achieve? Please excuse my ignorance.

Have you got one of the .22" sub calibre inserts for the rifle? Ever thought about turning one up? Simplicity itself in a lathe

Thats the next project, I took in a couple of scrap BSA Internationals recently, which I will use the barrel to make the .22 adaptor. My friend made up one for his Boys rifle, but his has been sleeved to .50 BMG.

Yes, I understand they would be a .22 sub cal insert but it would be super in .38 S&W Spl. It could be loaded down for indoor also...Or you could do .500 S&W?
    Regards, Jim

The .22 sub calibre .55 Boys units were withdrawn after it was found that continuous firing caused a ring in the .55 barrel.
There was numerous types of the .22 sub cal units: some with a separate firing pins and others with the offset chamber. Nice little C broad arrow on the base and most were made by Hugh Cooey of .22 rifle fame in Canadaicon. Almost every kid in Canada or at least did 50 years ago had a Cooey.
The brass .22 sub cal unit was local unit made of a .55 case with an internal sleeve soldered at the base. There are 5 Boys rounds in a stripper clip and a stripper clip of .303 for size comparison.

    Hi Simon

I have a Boyes and a 22 cal trainer aswell.. Have seen the photos and always thought that would be a very nice thing to be able to set up.. Did you have drawings to make yours? Would you consider making another set?

I certainly would be interested in a set.

Dont want to be a killjoy but had to step in here, for anyone in the UKicon you need a slot on your ticket for any sub calibre unit and it will need proofing plus making them without an RFD is a sure fast way at getting 5 years, also for those who dont know, an FAC, or SG holder will get more time for any firearm offence " as he should know better".

Remember the old war time posters, "Walls have ears" dont think I need to go any further regarding that saying.

Nice boys by the way (pardon the expression)
