Western Bowie , w/ SF lineage

This blade belonged to Sgt. Maj. Lonnie Leford ( Ret ) . He has ben deceased about 7-8 years . He was in theArmy from 1946 through 1977. He started out in the 82nd Abn and served in combat in Korea in the 187th. He was in the Green berets about from their start , and served a couple of tours in Vietnam as a GB.
I am undder the understanding approximately 100 western Bowies were bought and presented in 1965 At Fort Bragg. And some were presented sporadically for a few more years. This balde is not exactly like the supposed 100 of 1965 , but was in L.Ledford's possession previous to 1970 and has never been embellished - it is how he got it however he got it previous to 1970. What's your take on it ?. Attachment 27034Attachment 27035
