M84 scope dovetail rings, 1 inch rings too big, what can I do?

Another possibility. Try a set of Redfield or Leupold 1" High rings in conjunction with ring reducers. These allow a 7/8" scope to be used in 1" rings. I haven't tried them but I believe some of the competitors at last summers Vintage sniper match did.

Thanks for the info. I can't find 7/8 rings for my A4 scope and I just ordered 1" to 7/8" reducers.

I jumped right on the link and ordered a set of ring reducers, now I can use a higher set of rings and put the rubber eyeguard back on

I just recevied my ring reducers and have them installed. Upon further research I found pictures for the M84 scope mounted with the adjustment turrents between the rings and with the turrents out front of the rings. Someone spare me the embarrassment at the range for the correct placement.

I think depends on what size eyeball you have... sorry that is from the movie Mister Roberts. The pictures I have seen in "The Standard Catalog of Military Firearms" show the turrets between the rings and that is what I am doing since it gets the eye relief closer to where I want it.

Personal preference. Right now mine is forward of the front rings. Vietnam vintage TM's shown them between the rings. some references (Senich) show them both ways. The M84 has pretty generous eye relief (as di the Weaver 330 and Lyman Alaskan) so correct is whatever fits and works best for you.
