    Spanish Ruby gunsmithing

Attachment 27538Anyone able to shed any light on how to "seal the rear of the receiver with a piece of steel rod" I have a .25 caliber spanish auto of which the firing pin sent the little steel tab flying into obscurity somewhere in my garage. I am at a loss as to how to pattern another.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I'd guess it was originally a short rod that was slightly larger than the hole. Driven in, filed near flush, possibly peened around the periphery if there's a chamfer on the hole in the slide, and then filed and sanded/polished flush with the slide. THEN the slide was blued.

I would guess further that it was likely a tapered hole with the large end toward the front. So the filler would be driven in front to rear. But that's just a guess.
