    Ortgies pistol

While at "My Favorite Gun Shop" the other day I over heard a guy asking what he had. Of course I had to butt in and after a few guesses I chimed in that I would be happy to take some pics with my cell phone and do some research for him. Here are those pics and I now know what it is but if anyone wants to tell me more then the basic history I'm all EYES and EARS

Just to add this mans father got this after landing at D-Day. They had made it to a village that the Enemy had mistreated its citizens. Apparently the GI's took it to heart and from what he told me the officer that this was taken from was face down and as I understand it was executed. The badges were taken from his uniform and pinned onto the holster. My new friends Dad had donated some other war stuff to a local war museum that I will soon be checking out, as I would like to learn more about this brave man, as he is no longer with us.

The pin near the toe of the holster is from the Hitler Youth Corps.

Hope this helps. Seems it was made in a few different places, and with a few different markings. This seems to be, if I'm reading this right, the last variant, based off the Deutsche Werke markings on it.

Is or was it common to have this pin on your uniform and the other pin that I associate with the Luftwaffe?? would that have been on a uniform? My facts on the story are not 100%.

Yes this was the last variant and what I learned was the 5th address (the identifying marking on the slide) and the ones they made the most of 175,000 and between the years 1922-24 or 28 depending on where you get the info.
