M1 garand training rifle 22lr

I HAVE A CHANCE TO BUY A TRAINING RIFLE THAT IS A 22LONG/22LONG RIFLE. HOW RARE
ARE THESE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE AND I HAVE ONLY SEEN PICTURES OF THE ONE I WAS OFFERED TO BUY. I LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD OVER ALL CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. ABOUT WHAT PRICE RANGE WOULD BE A FAIR PRICE?? THANKS

This is a Springfield Armory 87A with a furniture makeover. Savage and Stevens made the 87A also usually they did not have a serial number until later. I have a Stevens 87A with no serial number.

It looks just like the one in the picture. ALso it is a 87A . What would be a fair price range for them. Are they very rare. I don't know anything about a Garand so I need help. THANKS

BAR, that is not mine however it is very cool. I do have an 87A that needs a feed spring to run.

Fradycat, I don't have an answer for you. One would be nice to have though. I will say this, the S/A, Savage and Stevens 87As are dirt cheap. I don't think I've seen one go for much over $150.00 in great condition. Now, add M1 Garand type furniture and you may have another story.

To add to what Bill said, Fradycat, you might want to ask on the .22 small bore forum as well.
There's a wealth of information about many types of .22's by the gentlemen on that forum.

It's an 87M . It is not military production nor was it ever used as a military trainer. Prices are all over the board on these , between a couple of hundred to 6-700 I would think. There is a long , long multi page , multi year thread on these that should answer most of your questions.

Chris, this one is an 87A as seen in the other photo of this same rifle. I suspect this maybe a home made to look the part and maybe even for foolery.
