    Pearl Pics

Here are some pictures that were given to me by a lady that worked for me. The story goes "They were on a roll of film still in a Brownie camera inside some old sailors footlocker" I can not confirm or deny but, I thought they were thought provoking about what happened that day, so many years ago.

The amazing thing many don't hear about is how quickly many of the ships heavily damaged, even sunk, were salvaged and repaired and put back in the fight. And, of course, in spite of the horrible loss of life and property, the fact that the Japaneseicon did NOT get the carriers was the key to victory in the Pacific.

They were still operating with the assumption that naval warfare would be determined by the big battleships slugging it out, when, ironically, the attack on Pearl was as successful as it was because of aircraft carriers.

1177 sailors and marines aboard the Arizona still. More being added by veterans choosing to have their ashes put aboard to be among their shipmates once again. I'm a WWII baby; wasn't there but I remember Pearl Harbor.

I remember hearing the story about the undeveloped photos being found in an 'old Brownie' and I believe it was proven to be a hoax, but those photos are still spectacular.

If I remember correctly, after the story of the photos being found still undeveloped, there were some identical period photos taken from different people at different locations that were developed and published just after Pearl Harbor, and they matched some of the 'brownie' photos. Also, some of the Brownie photos were debunked because they from locations too far apart to have been taken by the same person in the small time period when some of the most spectacular explosions took place.

As I said, I'm working from memory on the 'debunk' and it might have been a different story about the brownie photos, but I suspect it's the same.
