A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I've done a couple, if you can't grip the broken off shaft all you need a a dremel and some fine drills, once there's a hole into the broken shaft you can thread in a screw to either turn it right out, or the hole can be drilled out to size and the upper end of a 5/8th nail can be epoxied in the hole. EZ, lol.

Otherwise I think we had a thread here recently that a member was able to get repairs done by Fulton in the UKicon, they're listed in Enfield Resource.com
Just a ps in case you try it all yourself, the back plates come off easy enough, and the iris petals normally stay where they're supposed to, in various guide slots and pivots, but the metal of the petals is thin and brittle. its very easy to have them jump out of their slots and get bent, never to come right again. Avoid at all costs disturbing them if you can, if they are out of their own accord, they can be put right, it requires patience and good eyesight and be prepared to try the reassembly 10-20 times before it comes right.
If you position the broken shaft in the middle of its travel you should be able to block the corners where swarf and metal shavings will get inside the sight with cotton wool or cotton buds, if you can prevent the swarf getting in, you'll be able to carefully drill that stud out without having to dismantle the sight.
They're a brilliant eyepiece, the rolls royce.

Do you know if anyone here in NZicon could repair the iris petals? I've got 2 of these lovely adjustable iris sights with the colour filters also included, but the petals have been damaged

    Dieppe42,

ALTERNATIVE (not wishing to pee on NJW's fireworks)

Real shame you are in British Columbia, because Bill Smallwood ex PH engineer works one day a week at Norman Clarkes in the UK. He's a good friend and ex Special Forces! Just spoke to him and he repairs those sights every day. 1st class engineer and responsible for building many many good rifles during his service there, which was phenomenol.

    Their details are:
    Norman Clarke Gunsmiths Limited
    19 Somers Rd, Rugby CV22 7DG,
    United Kingdomicon
    Phone: 0044 (0)1788 579651

Good luck mate.......the choice is yours!
