Anyone else getting this when you pull up this site?

My Norton keeps blocking this all the while I'm on here.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Basic check

    Careful!
Are you sure that the message is from Norton? Some bug programs produce scare messages to panic you into downloading a "fix" or "upgrade" that contains the really nasty stuff.
Are you on line for hours and hours, giving the nasties time to infiltrate?
Are you using a wireless connection. Is it properly secured? Modern snooper software is very powerful, and if you leave your PC with an active wireless connection for a long time, snooper software has a better chance to crack it. Consider using a wired connection - it is more secure.

    Turn off your computer.
Disconnect it from the Internet and any other computers or network connection. I.e. turn off the wireless connection. Restart.
Check that your protection software is up to date. If not, that is the FIRST thing to do.
Use your protection software to make a COMPLETE search and clean of ALL hard drives. May take a loooong time, but don't be tempted to leave anything out.
When all is done, see if Norton has found anything and made a disinfection report. If so, it will give you a clue as to what happened.

If Norton says all is OK and nobody else has this problem, then it could be an attack via your wireless connection (if you are using one). Change the password and do not stay online too long in one session.

Moved the thread to the site HELP forums ...

GUTS, can you clear your browser cache and then see if it goes away .....

There have been reports of a virus by this name floating around vBulletin based sites.

    Thanks ...

    Regards,
    Doug

Thanks for the reports guys.... they're appreciated and very helpful ...

... and special thanks to Don "enfield303t" who first sent us an urgent email with a report of these warning anomalies....

It appears that some vBulletin software versions are susceptible to "injection hacks". This might have caused some issues with our site, but we're not sure. However, just in case, we've swept the site clean and also performed a minor security update from 4.1.3pl1 to 4.1.3pl5.

Let me know if you get the warnings again ...

    Regards,
    Doug

I had it too after a four day absence. The computer was shut off during that time. It seems to be gone now however...

    Exclamation

Update: It appears that spammers and hackers are getting more aggressive with the more popular vBulletin software sites. According to our Google monitoring, our daily traffic and subsequent registrations by collectors is way up.

On one hand, it's nice to think we're being visited by a LOT more members and guests to view all of the content created over the last 5 plus years, but on the other hand with popularity comes the attention of people who have less than honorable intentions.

So, because almost ALL of these spammers and hackers originate from specific geographic regions, effective immediately, we will begin blocking access to our site at the basic server level, by countries from most of the former Sovieticon Union, China, and much of South Americaicon!

I doubt it will affect legitimate Registered Members, but we will monitor that on an individual basis. If you think you might be affected and before the blocking takes place, please send me an email to badger@milsurps.com.

    Regards,
    Doug
