    Swiss long rifles

I won several Swissicon long rifles at an auction today, a private series 1911, a "regular" series 1911 and this 96/11 that had an interesting stock. I also noticed after I won this that it has some sort of fine rear sight adjuster.

    Congratulations

That rear sight fine adjustment is not original military configuration, but an add-on for target shooting. Very rare, and the only one I ever saw for sale here, some weeks ago, cost about as much as a rifle!

You have got one of the most accurate open-sighted ex-service rifles ever. And yes, I do have a Carl Gustav for comparison! Just check that the barrel is free-floating in the nickel-silver sleeve at the front (which tends to become clogged with verdigris), and is not touching anywhere along the barrel channel. Then just get hold of some GP11 ammo and away you go!

Oh, and don't forget to carefully unscrew the buttplate and take a look inside - sometimes the previous Swissicon owner has left an ID slip inside!

P.S. The rudimentary pistol-grip was a standard part of the G96/11 conversion. Your stock is correct.

Thanks Patrick , I appreciate the information regarding the sight adjuster. My other 96/11's have a pistol grip that more closely matches the stock wood. I kinda like the contrast of this one.

    And thank you also, Gunner.

Hope you both have a merry Christmas if indeed you celebrate such

My new Swissicon rifles arrived at my FFL for the 10 day "cooling off" period and I got a chance to look them over and take a few pics. The bores on all of them are, of course, excellent.

Here is a picture of the sight adjuster and receiver area. More pics and a range report when I've "cooled off".

Got a chance to shoot this at the range last week. I was using the Hornady 7.5 Swissicon match ammo, with this result

    (4 shots @ 100 yards)

Not sure this ammo is as good as GP11, but I think it is a shade better than the Prvi
