    Swiss Auction finds..

    I glommed several Swissicon rifles at auction a few days ago One of the items was a nice looking K31 in a walnut stock.

    Several of the K31's, including the one I nabbed, had stickers on the handguard which I've not seen before. I've since learned that they are competition stickers, signifying that this rifle was inspected and approved for match use.

    Let's see the stickers!

    Yes, that is standard practice for many regional/national competitions around these parts. Usually trigger weights and sights are checked for conformity with the "as issued" configuration. "Stick up" some photos of the stickers! Then we can see what the competitions were.

    I just checked with Fed EX and they should arrive at my FFL next Tuesday. I'll bring a camera and take some photos before they start their "10 day cooling off period"

    Merry Christmas,

    Steve

    Got a chance to look over this rifle and grab a picture of the sticker before it went into my FFL's safe for a 10 day waiting period. The rifle looks great and has a great bore.

    Here is a picture of the competition sticker on the handguard. Anyone know which match this was?

    Thanks

    I've got a very K31icon with a beech stock{unblemished} that had a "Shutzenfest" sticker on the top wood.
    Obviosly a match rifle, even the trigger is far better than my other one with a walnut stock and a few dings.
    Although it does have a replacment bolt, the serial number is electro penciled.

    GM = Gaumeisterschaft

    GM-Final Olten 89

    GM stands for Gaumeisterschaft = area championship.
    Gau (sometimes Gäu in old names) is an old German word for area or district. Examples: Allgäu (Germanyicon) Aargau (Switzerlandicon). Modern administration would refer to a Bezirk, but both in Germany and Switzerland the shooting organizations like to use the old-fashioned term, especially as the Gau divisions of the historical shooting clubs may not correspond to modern adminstrative divisions.

    A Gaumeistershaft is a championship for a district that (in Switzerland) is a subdivision of a Canton. The name Soluthurnisches Gäu is applied to that part of the canton of Solothurn that lies between Oensingen and Olten. The next stage up would be the cantonal championship, and then the national championship.
