Notice the BAR belt to hold mags. Very common with the SF types and advisors.

I've done this myself, it's the only way to carry the weapon without it cocking over upside down. It looks like an M1 carbine sling though.

Early patrol sling. Modification kits existed in the 60s to carry the rifle "sights up" while slung in front of the body. Nowdays common, at the time a new idea.

I've used 550 and tape on a standard A2 to do the same. Field expedient.

I was looking for a photo of the XM607 when I found this picture. Photos of the XM607 are difficult to find and I was able to restore an original stock a few years ago with some repro internal parts.

Anyone have any idea on the number of XM607 stock units were produced ? has to be a few hundred ?? also a low survival rate.
