Does this Bayo look legit?

Im posting a link to an ebay auction that has a bayo for sale. Its advertised as a 1942 dated bayo. Think its real? How do you spot a fake?

By the way, original question was how to spot a fake? The markings are very different on the fakes. They're available for viewing on Ebay and they come out of China I think. The scabbards are different and the whole thing doesn't compare to the originals. The finish doesn't look close to correct either. Like a poor blue and then stove paint over top.

Yeah, that one has been around the Horn more than once.

I have seen more than a few of those fakes on eBay lately. There are fakes out there that are quite good and are not as easy to spot. I think the one single thing that comes to mind is the edges of the stampings are sharp and a more fine font. The scabbards are plastic and shiney and the metal is thinner.

That would be a tragedy, that is a government shortened M1905, making it the new standard M1 bayonet in use from 1944 and for as long as the M1 Garand was on issue. Destroying a legitimate issue bayonet to "restore" another? Why?

EDIT!
Looking closer at the eBay link, it is possible that it is a fake, the scabbard does look like a straight plastic scabbard rather than the "cotton duck body impregnated with a thermosetting plastic" as stated in my link below. If this is the case, this would be a fair target for using parts in a restoration. They can probably be fitted to work on an original.
