Missed another buttplate for my S'G'

My best S'G' came without a buttplate and I've been watching for a good deal on an original. I was watching one on eBay the other day, and very close to the end of the auction it was at less than $15. I signed on at the last few minutes and decided to try "sniping" it - time almost ran out on me. I was the last bidder, but still didn't get it. If I'd only bid about double my final offer, I might have won it.

    Here's the one from Monday:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250976495947

I figured I had another chance on one ending today, so went online about 15 minutes early and found out that it was already at a price that must be some kind of world record. I was actually the first bidder on this last one. I thought either one would have looked really nice on my carbine.

    Here's the one from today:

If you've been watching these at all, you've probably seen a lot of the fakes. The other day I saw what I think was one of the fakes that had been "aged." It looked like he had fastened it to the tread of a truck tire with a wood screw and then drove around the block with it a couple of times. That S'G' is starting to look pretty good with the IBM buttplate that's on it.

Uh....guilty. You were within $4. Been there many times. It's not 'mint' but neither is my carbine, and I know they're both real. Good luck, keep at it & I know you'll get the one you want.

    Commentary on Today's Offering

JMHO but somebody was taken to the cleaners today, if it wasn't a shill bid runup. The one I bought on Monday (now in-hand) is a stone gem compared to the POC sold today. You should be able to get a really nice (like not all bent, beat up and worn down) PM-IP butt plate for under $60, even on ePay. You did good today. Don't get anxious and then be sorry later (like the guy who dropped $84.50 on that POS).

Now I don't feel so bad, knowing it was one of our own who got it! Yep that one would have been a good match for my tired old S'G' too - looked like about the right amount of "honest" use on it. Now I've got to go take a look at what sold for $84.50.

    Thanks! - Bob

I found one in my junk box tonight. 95%+ original finish, not like the junk that sold on ebays for big bucks.
Stamped PM-S'G'. I would post a picture but can't. I think I better take it to GB tomorrow before I loose it again.
    Sorry, just thinking out loud.

    Got one today!

There were fewer bidders on this one than I expected. Just in case, one consolation is that it comes with what appears to be a fairly decent NPM. Thanks to Charlie for the PM! - Bob

    Congrats

A lot better than the second one you missed last week and at about 1/4 the price when you figure in a little for the NPM.

I think you owe Charlie $ 50.00 and the NPM butt Plate. Great score.
When you said you got a NPM also, I first thought you bought a NPM carbine with a S'G' butt plate. But you did a lot better tham that.
