1913 Swedish mauser M96 history?

I'm new to service rifle shooting and have just bought a 6.5x55mm M96 from 1913, Its a Carl Gustafs serial 3127** and was wondering if anyone could tell me some history about this, is it ever likely to have served?

The bayonet scabbard is labelled 10./I.27 No27, this may identify the company it was issued to?

Any info on the beautiful rifle most welcome! Have had a shoot and it seems remarkably accurate for such an old gun.

He lists all of the regimental information and distict numbers.....

The Dutchman's site that skeet1 mentioned is also very goo, just focusing on Swedish Mausers.

Do you know how to read the butt discs? Here's an example....

Disc information only valid at time measurements and observations were taken.

1. Torped (unmarked) = No difference between point of aim and point of impact when using m/41 bullet.
2. Bore measurement = 6.50mm
3. Unmarked bore condition (1,2,3) = "absolutely no corrosion, abrasion or scratches - as good as new"

I had already found the dutchmans site and the english manual, both great info sources on the types of swedish military rifles around, would be very keen for you to look up the serial number!! I also learmned to read the disks and was dissapointed to see mine is a 3 but the barrel looks almost mint to me, seems the scoring system was pretty tough. My main question is whether this particular rifle is likely to have served somewhere in WWI or WWII? and if so where - any info greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, a fantastic place for info, I own many Sweds and have found one shoots just as well as the other. The results at the range runs 1.5 to 2.5 with irons sights and under MOA with the M41b. I do all shooting off a hard rest, HTH-SDH
