To blue or not on a Weaver 330M.8

I just got my Weaver 330M.8 back from Iron Sights and while the internals are like new and the glass is crystal clear, the body leaves a lot to be desired. I am putting it on my Gibbs a4 and am considering cleaning the body and do a cold blue. Would you do this?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Just out of curiosity was there a reason you did not have Ironsight do the refinishing while they had it apart?

    Regards,

I wouldn't cold blue a gun that belonged to someone I didn't like.

There are many places that will do a good finish on it that you'll be proud of. Also, 'chuckindenver' is a member here who can do a good job for a good price. He's a gunsmith and you can just ship it to him. Unlike most gunsmiths he works everyday so he doesn't take months to get it done.

Over 10 years ago I sent an M8 scope to the Montana Scope Co (which I believe is no longer in business). It was in poor condition, with little finish & numerous deep dents in the tube. They stripped & repaired the tube & knobs, & sent them out for hot bluing, then reassembled it.
