Trapdoor carbine ?'s

I went back to a local shop to check out a Trapdoor carbine that came in as part of a collection. It is SN#413495. It is in a lighter colored carbine stock that has the butt plate with sliding door but the stock has no hole cut into the butt end. The rear sight is Buffington marked C on top right and the barrel band is milled out for the sight to seat correctly. I did the dime test FWIW on the muzzle end and it was correct in size. The b reach block is marked Model 1884. The barrel is marked with VP eagle head P. The hardware is present on the left side and the inletting is tight. I cannot find a P proof or the date cartouche on the stock. Just looking for feedback on the date range and possible correctness. Thanks.

I entered the serial number on the web page for trapdoors. I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call the next day. The SN# is for a carbine made in the last quarter of 1888. Probably went to 7th or 8th Cav. The stock is a replacement and never had the holes drilled for storage.
