Announcement New Moderator (M1/M2 Carbine Forum)

I'd like to introduce a long time member of our community, who has volunteered to help us out moderating the M1/M2 Carbine Forum.

Jim "JimF4M1sicon" Flavin (in his own words)

Born and raised in Northern California. As a teenager I loved motorcycles. I have had one of some kind in the garage since Oct 1964. I met a gal in 1966. We married in 1968, this July will be our 44th anniversary. She must be a saint.

Went into the U.S. Navy Oct 1967. Was assigned as an engine-man to Assault Craft, four men boats. Served three combat tours in Vietnam 1968, 1969, 1970. Da Nang and north. Best moment was doing a prisoner exchange north of the DMZ. VFW life member. Attend my unit memorial each year on Coronado at my old base.

Worked as an engineer for General Electric for seventeen years. Then moved over to Shell Oil Co. Retired in 2011 due to medical issues from agent orange.

My collection is around 140 weapons. My major interest is with the M1 Carbine. I carried one on my boat my first tour. A few years after I was discharged I bought my first one in 1976. It has grown to over 50. Long time member of the M1 Carbine Club. Like semi custom 45 ACP's. My strangest weapon is probably a Liberator pistol.

Enjoying retirement and hobbies. Guns, golf and poker.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... We're not worthy !!
Give him a few months, he'll have us pushing the deck.

Cheers To you Jim and all the moderators for taking on a hard job.

    Respectfully,
    Charlie

    Why Jim couldn't handle Recruiting..........
Pull this if you have to, but it is a good laugh.

Charlie, making fun of us Navy guys with your daughter just enlisting? hummm.... Don't worry, we have heard them all before. I did get a big laugh out of it, but maybe just a bit off for here. My good friend picking on me in just the second day. What have I gotten myself into? Jim
