    03 NRA Sporter????

I am new to the forum, so will start off by saying HI to everyone. I was looking for confirmation on ser#1471017 as a NRA sporter. It has B 2070 stamped on the top of the barrel at about the middle. It has 2 star marks on the muzzle. 1 at six o'clock and the other at seven. NS stamped bolt, but no serial number found on it. It has a Lyman front sight with long ramp that covers up the barrel date, but can make out a 5 on the left and a 6 on the right. Has the Lyman rear sight. I am considering buying this rifle so any info anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It has 2 star stamps on the muzzle? Don't exactly understand that one.

They are both there plain as day. I didn't really want to take pictures if I could find out if it was legit or not by the serial number.

It could just be a parts rifle, never know.

If it is, it sounds like a nice one.

Question is, is it priced as a Sporter?

    What kind of stock?

I would like to see photos, too!

Springfield was VERY careful about NRA Sporter construction and finish. Two star stamps on the muzzle does NOT sound right. Just my $.02.

Probably too late to have been a NRA Sporter. Brophy says that they were not listed after 1932. A NM barrel would have had the Star Gage number stamped on top of the barrel ( under the H/G ), and would have the "tell-tale" half round slot on the right hand side of the barrel at the receiver.....where the rear sight base was pinned to the barrel.

There is a NRA Sporter listed which is serial number 1486796. The last large group of Sporters ends in the 1.408 million range.
