    no trap M1's

After millions of '03 Springfields and 30-40 Krags were issued with butt trap storage for cleaning gear, Why was the feature omitted on early Garands? Any particular reason?

Someone had a better Idea to lighten up the rifle and made a pouch to hold the gear. Also many regiments had a armor and at one point they didn't issue everyone a kit from what I read. Rick Bicon

When I was an armorer in an engineer company, everyone was issued an M1icon rifle. The squad leader had the ramrods and cleaning gear and provided the members of his squad with this gear. The BMG M1919A6's were cleaned by the armorer
