Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I'd certainly be interested to see what the T and L42 go for. Crikey the Scotarms people don't make much effort on their website - most items no pics, if they've got a pic it's tiny and non-expandable.

Lot 460 looks like a converted No1 Mk6 trials rifle pity someone has fitted target sights.

For anyone interested in Lot 455 the serial Number is, 3647 which has been stamped over or lined out, and is now B119474T.

I have asked Simon (see stickys) in Enfield forum, but he says there is no data recorded regarding this paticular rifle, but he does state his records are only 99% complete.

It always rings bells when something like this goes to auction, its the kind of thing that can be put in amongst the legit stuff, with the number not showing in his records I have grave doubts about it, also the No4T so if anyone is bidding or has a postal bid be warned, again it may be legit ??

I shall be there early tomorrow if any members are going PM me for contact number etc.

Will see what it looks like tomorrow,

I suspect the serial for the 4T is a typo or the rifle has been renumbered; it's got one too many digits for an ex-Trials rifle & if it's a 1943 onwards BSA Shirley it starts with the wrong number!

One of the cataloguers told me the rifles all came from a private collection, but I've no idea whose.

    Roger,

Checked that one out also and the number is correct, or correct in the catalogue, looking at the pic it also a upgrade to a 1/2, thats if it was upgraded.

Will take some pics and give them a once ,twice, three times over, but am smelling a rat already.

I.ll cut to the chase, straight away, LOT 454, was a No4T on a 1931 action, all new woodwork etc, not convinced of the T and the TR mark, but went for, 2000 pounds.

LOT 455, someone has bought a bubba No4T turned into a L42 lookalike, the scope was not a L1A1 as far as I could see, but I did see a big grind mark about an 1" long and 3/8" wide, sold for 2200 pounds.

LOT 449, this was an excellent example, but cant remeber what the barrel was like, but for, 560 pounds a bargain.

LOT 450, sold for 480 pounds

LOT 451, sold for 460 pounds

LOT 452, sold for 150 pounds

LOT 453, sold for 675 pounds, another good honest rifle.

LOT 456, sold for 560 pounds

LOT 457, sold for 160 pounds, (this was a deact)

LOT 458, sold for 540 pounds

LOT 459, sold for 550 pounds

LOT 460, sold for 700 pounds (this was a nice rifle)

    LOT 461, sold for 420

This was it for me, I expected the No1 MkV to go for a lot more, was very tempted but, I,m more into the 60 quid specials. I did win LOT 174 but this was on behalf of Warren.

( the prices are at the drop of the hammer but you should add 22% to this regarding buyers premium and vat )

From memory the scope was one of the double engraved ones, it did have a L1A1 engraving underneath but the rifle & forend wasnt an L42. I wonder why the other marking were ground out.

The bolt less Long Lee was a Tippings version quite rare, & excellent. i shoud have kept my hand a bit longer on this one.
    Regards Simon
