A Mk V trials rifle, not one of the production rifles but an actual trials rifle, the one with the slab sided body. Skennertonicon, Page 188 top pictures.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). These are awesome wish list! Hi! New member and new to collecting. Im an Aussie living in Chicago and want to start a Aussie Collection in Chicago - think it would be pretty cool. I learned to shoot the 303 in cadets looking for my first purchase. As soon as I think I am understanding this wonderful rifle I learn something new. My immediate goals are more straight forward: #matching, as original as possible collectible Aussie Lithgowicon WWII, WWI, 22 trainer, Boer (non lithgow, I know), L1A1 (not a bitsa, but original). Ive been learning for about 12-18 months....who would have thought how it sucks you in.

    Low serial number MLE

I have a MLE 1896 s/n 252, it might be it! Just new to the forum, looking for info on this s/n to see if it is the lowest one I can find. I have recently received 4 Lee Enfield. This one is the best one, the others are 14, 18 and 44 mark 3’s.

My Holy grail is an original No.5 MK 1 Jungle carbine. I had an original 30 years ago, and used it very successfully as a brush hunting rifle in western Washington state. I letr a friend talk me out of it in a trade for a Marlin lever in .444 Marlin, which I regretted instantly.

Now I work part time at a local gun shop, and have seen some fakes come through, but have not found an original again. I see them on Gunbroker, but the prices seem a bit high to me....
