L42 repro at the range
Well its been a long time but managed to get to the range (100 mtr), had a few rifles on board but I was struggling to get a sight picture, can only blame it on the light as its in an old railway tunnel, checked today in daylight with the other two rifles and picture was ok (will be donating some acquired sodium lights in near future) so the card I have is from the L42 lookalike I bought a few months back, I,ve changed the fore-end (still needs work) and the butt and cheek rest, the rifle itself has the original L42 barrel and, also has had the body machined to take the mag, will do more on this in the restorers corner when I replace the draws, but it was shooting well with normal loads and downloads, will stick this card in the comp.

No backsight BigDuke6; so you can take the bolt out without removing the scope?

It was the first major run out with it, and was having some scope trouble so the sight was removed, to enable bore sighting and like you say didnt have to remove the scope.
I,m not a big fan of Beech, so have been after a cut down No4 Mk2 fore-end In walnut to use, I bought one on ebay (standard length) which was very cheap, but it wasn,t for this, it was for one of many other projects, problem was when it turned up it had been gauged out all along the barrel channel I guess for a heavy barrel, so its in the queue with a few others for some TLC and the draws to be patched.
I was out with it two weeks back, the grin factor is still 100% +, In fact it give me the incentive to re-finish and repair a No4T repro I have, this should be in the restorers corner in the near future.
