Some fakes are lots of fun

This web sling was online for sale by some large companies about 5 years ago. This image was located on a website of a company that sold lots of different items, not just firearms.

FSN: The one shown was transferred to the Stiff Nylon sling production in 1969. (Stiff Nylon was material just like an automobile seat belt) It continued with the Soft Nylon sling contract in 1970. This FSN was cancelled at the end of 1970. In 1975 the second Soft Nylon contract had a different FSN.

Furthermore look at the date. Sometime in the 1970s the system no longer used the Federal Stock Number. (I never reveal the date because it will help the fakers) The system adopted the National Stock Number, which would have added two zeros: 1005-00-654-4058 would have been the NSN, if it were still in use in 1989, the fiscal year of the contract.

Furthermore the contract shown does not exist. The contractor's name does not exist on government records. The format of the contract does not exist.

Try to find a "Day-Desert" sling in a FM, TM, or any ordnance document.

This one was no challenge, just a lot of fun.
