Another signal corps photo of the Bushmaster in Panama.Notice this one has no grasping grooves on the stock, and an early non curved bolt. We could speculate the "insurgent" just got tired of lugging his Garandicon around the jungle and surrendered with the promise of a cold beer at the PX.
Notice the smiling corporal at the right seems to have a straight grip BM over his shoulder since no muzzle is visible above his shoulder

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Must have been made from a M1903 Remington which would have been the only source for a "S" stock with out grasping grooves in 1942.
