Pictures of 1903 Mk I Ross Rifle

    Good morning:
I thought some might like to see some photos of a Ross 1903 rifle, as they were first issued. This is one of the Fisheries contract rifles, and is only a couple of numbers off rifle # A98 shown on page 166 of The Ross Rifle Story. It still retains that ridiculously long and delicate (and incorrectly calibrated apparently) rearsight, which has the worst shallow "V" sight picture I've ever seen..... For comparison, I have shown it next to a Mk I Carbine, as well as an early Model 1905 Mk II and a Mk II*, to show how the butt markings and fore-ends evolved.

    Cheers

    Ed

    Bolt Action..
Yep... thanks for sharing. I have never seen a Ross down here in the States, and am getting a great education from you Gents up north. And as they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words!"
