Thank you all for your good advises.
For sure an M2 with fake cartouches and stock is not worth all that money.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I saw that Johnny I guess my question was did any of the 22 Springfields have any kind of cutoff notch. Mine doesn't - but i hate to generalize with a sample of one rifle

I have seen that squared off profile before on some .30 cal rifles but again i don't know if they were some sort of oddball replacement stock or a contemporary reproduction.

    Thanks

    Jim

The M1922 M2 rarely appear in Europe, Hermann Historica only auctioned one several years ago. They sell for rather high prices, but €2500 is far too much. I wouldn't even buy it priced at 1500€.

Oh, and BTW: my M1922 M2 has a CSAA cartouche on the right side. Funny since the cartouches are usually on the left side of the rifle.

    Jim,

The 1922 stocks did not need the cutoff. Just like the cartouche, someone probably thought that one should have it to be correct and ruined a good stock.
