    Mr laidler's repro sniper articles

To the esteemed Mr Laidlericon and Badger,
please accept my apologies if I have missed this before but is there any reason why your articles, namely the 4 part series on the No4T sniper repro, is not in PDF format so to be able to save a copy for reference?
Is it a copyright issue or other?
I hope I have not infringed on any legal or moral toes here but I thought it easier to view than to go to the web page each time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
    cheers
    Ned

If it's me that you're talking to about PDF and formats and/or anything else to do with computers, then you're talking to the wrong bloke!

    Hello Ned …

    Yes, there is.

First, we are an interactive research site, not a place to go and download material for re-purposing or other usage, which once disconnected from our site may lose it's coherency and presentation format as it relates to the total research approach on the site. Our Site Content Policy (click here) covers that in more detail.

Unfortunately, in spite of that policy, we still get a lot of folks modifying through cut-n-paste techniques, small pieces and portions of donated articles contributed by other members (often copyrighted), or they extract isolated pics that are not part of a complete photo montage from MKLicon articles covering specific firearms. We often get emails from people who visit other sites, requesting we provide them with the full article, or links to other content that may have been referenced in the cross posted material.

Second, many of the articles are interconnected between library entries with other HTML links, so it's important to maintain an interactive format whereby those "live" links in one article can lead the reader to either another Knowledge Libraryicon entry, or perhaps back to other forums on our web site.

Third, the amount of work we'd have to go to in order to publish (and update) articles in full PDF format, including pulling all the external pics and references together into a single downloadable file, would be excessive. We have no paid staff or moderators to maintain the site or do the work building the libraries. Access to all on-line research libraries and most forums is provided completely free, although some Contributing Members have graciously chosen to voluntarily donate a nominal amount of money, to help defray several thousand dollars in annual system bandwidth, server, disk storage and maintenance costs.

Finally, if a member really wants to save an article in PDF format for his own use, it's a simple matter of using his own Internet web browser to Print the the page. For example, I use FireFox and if I click Print, I have the option to either send the web page to my printer for a hard copy, or have it print to a PDF file which it creates. If someone's browser doesn't support that capability, I suspect there are dozens of free programs on the Internet that a member can download as an add-on to their computers that will perform the same task.

Having said all of that, you will find a LOT of content here in the Knowledge Library that is in PDF format, particularly complete books, manuals and other similar reference material.

    Hope that helps …

    Regards,
    Doug
