    Information needed on 03A4 Buttplate

    Hi,

Looking for assistance on the type of buttplate that would be on a 03A4 that was constucted in August 1943, in the first block of serial numbers of the sniper rifles. On everything that I can find on the weapon is correct in finishes, scope, marking on parts and cartouches.

The only info I'm having trouble with finding is what type of buttplate should be on the weapon. The buttplate that is currently on it is plain and blued. It looks like the type that is on a M1903 that I have dated 10-42.

    Thanks.

The original butt plate would have been a blued finish, stamped, with 16 lines per inch.

Thanks for the replies. From ChuckinDenver, when you indicated that there is nothing special about the stamped buttplate, would it have checkering?

Probably didn't make that clear. 16 lines per inch checkering on the buttplate.
