Took some pictures of my Winchester M1

[Beginner]

I finally took the time to take apart and take pictures (with a proper camera) of my favourite of my Garands; the Winchester, serial 2.350.8xx.

There are some older parts, but there are some weird issues, like the SA safety (C46015-6SA) which is wrong.

Thank you! The carbine is an Inland, ser ~990.xxx. The wood is (I think) USGI; but has been sanded. It is a high-wood, has IO in the sling-well but no cartouche. It is a very nice tiger-stripe color, but I should get around to applying a few coats of BLO on it.

The SA safety doesn't mean anything. It was added during a moment of rebuild by someone. The whole gun could have been re assembled by John Q Public to "correct" state. Except the safety.

Do you shoot it?
A suggestion if you do- Since the uncut op rods do break I would switch it out and put one with the relief cut on for shooting purposes because uncut WRA op rods are a a very very HIGH dollar item to replace when you can find one.

No, I haven't shot it nor will I, I think. The middle Garand in the group-photo is the one I shoot; it's a mixmaster SA with adjustable gasplug. I got this one for collecting, and I must say I got it for a decent price, considering that there are some valuable parts in it. I actually paid just 200€ more for the Winchester than the mixmaster, but both were under 1k€ (I'm in Europe).

Could any of you experts give your opinion on the parts/rifle in whole? Anything that sticks out as bad/suspicious or flat out wrong? I have gone through the rifle with my books in hand (Poyer & Reisch, and Canfields book on the Carbine/Garand) and parts seem to match the serial-number/time-frame. Either way I am very happy with this one, and this will be the last Garand I sell. The M1-D would go first

The books you talk about are basicly my reference too so...The safety probably broke at the top and someone changed it with whatever they could get. You can hunt around and probably find a correct one. The rest look OK for the most. I'm surprised that your gas cylinder seems to have finish on it and the lock and screw also. Most of those went silver almost immediately.
