real nice RMC I-cut/highwood needing some help

    Good morning to all!!
This collector grade stock came into the "Stock Sick Bay" the other day.
I disscussed with my customer how the repairs would be done. Job one is a good cleaning to asses what needs to be repaired.
It was thought that this was only going to need a couple of cracks glued. Then I found out that the recoil plate ledge was completely detached and that there was a big chip out of the left rail. There was also a crack on the inside behind the bridge that only showed up after cleaning.
I'll post more pics as the repairs are being done.

    Besr Regards.....Frank

    Yep,
    As you know Frank...
So many stocks have cracks and splits that can't be seen until they are cleaned.
I remember talking with RickB about this years ago.
You'll get R done and I'm sure it will come out nice.

    Cheers,
    Charlie-painter777

May I ask what type of glue you use in repairing a stock?

    Frank,
I've seen your work. Make sure you show the reapired stock when you're done. People will be amazed, I'm sure.

Here are some of the repairs done so far.
The split in the bottom will require some hand work to make it disapear. I'll get a pic of it when done.
The recoil plate ledge is also done.
The chip on the left rail is next, then oil to taste and we should be done.
I have all of the Loctite, Krazy and Gorilla glues and use what is best for the job.

    Best Regards.....Frank

I got the left rail of the stock done over the weekend. Go to the original pics I posted to see ware it came from to now.
First pick a piece that will match up with the grain.
Then clean up the chip and work the patch so it fits.
Glue it in, this one was difacult to clamp so I held it tight for a couple of "Sara Evans" songs.
Start taking it down and go nice and slow at the end.
I think my customer is going to be happy with it.

    Best Regards......Frank

Jim, it was hot over the weekend. Takes time to decide what piece will work.
Why not sit back and contemplate what to use.
Had a friend that was following this repair check it out and they could not find the repair. After some reoiling it should not be seen.

    Best Regards.....Frank
