No. 1 Mk. III* HT Serial Number

I do not have any Skennertonicon books.

I purchased what I believe to be a Mk III* HT yesterday. If anyone can check the serial number of the rifle I purchased against know serial numbers of HT snipers as published in a Skennerton book, or any other reputable source, I would greatly appreciate the confirmation.

The rifle I purchased is a Lithgowicon 1917 action on 42 Slaz furniture marked wih an "H".

It came with two scopes, one being serial numbered in electro pencil to the serial number of the rifle.

    The serial number is 844886.

The rifle is in "excellent plus" condition. If it is legit, I got a great deal.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hank

I believe you asked a similar question in this thread ...

I answered there, but I'll repeat it here ..

Also, check the MKLicon and compare yours against the hundreds of close up pics displayed for both versions of the HT snipers.

    Hope that helps...

There are no 6 digit serial numbered HT sniper rifles listed in Skennertonicon's newest book, "The Lee Enfield". All are 5 digits or less....

There is one listed as Serial # 84486 (5 digits) and it's shown as a mount type "Short Bracket" build, sent to stores on August 20th, 1945.

Again, for members to be of much use, providing pics of your rifle would be the best thing.

    Regards,
    Doug

Can I respectfully suggest that you go out and buy the relevant book. It ain't expensive but compared to the value of your rifle, it's dirt cheap! It will be money well spent and one that you will read and re-read until you wear it out. At the moment, it's like you have a strange car and no handbook

I anticipated buying the gun on Sunday, so I did look for a Skennertonicon book on Saturday at my local gun show, (to no avail). I also checked my local book stores when I got home yesterday, but again without success. I was hoping to avoid the three day delay in receiving it if I ordered it on line. Now that I know it's real, I can waith the three days. I'll order one today.
Again, thanks all. I feel like a little kid at Christmas. Can't wait 'till I have it in my hands.

Post lots of pics when you get it so the many experts here can pour over them for you.

I hope it turns out to be all correct and one of those lucky "buys" that comes along now and then ...

    Regards,
    Doug

We have a CanadianNoT/No32 TP here that came over for trials and it came with a second/spare telescope. I think it is 44??S or something close to that.
