    Peruvian 1935

I picked up a Peruvianicon in 30/06. The stock is marked- Cal 30 and the numbers match. Im guessing it was reamed to 06 not rebarreled.

In the post WW2 period, a number of South American countries converted their Mausers to 30-06. About 15 years ago, one of the US surplus importers had quantities of FN manufactured Mauser barrels in 30-06. These were stepped barrels, but not the same dimensions as the K98K. These were beautiful barrels with highly polished rifling. They were individually wrapped and in-the-grease. I think I still have a couple of them. You might look for any stampings on the barrel that might provide some identification of the manufacturer.

Matching numbers on barrel and receiver in same script might indicate original barrel or at least rebarrel done at an arsenal of some kind.. Belgian proofs on both as well. As I recall, the FN replacement barrels were marked with that proof as well. The scuff marks under the serial number on the barrel look like made while screwing a finished barrel on to an action. Hard to tell from the picture, but the barrel looks to have a blacker finish. Nice find.
