    I wish you luck Paul.

.....& I would also take issue with the seller's comment in the description that there are generally only poorly made reproductions available. There are some blxxdy good ones available too!

    Big Duke

I fully agree. Very happy with the two that I have.

    Great product. Superb vendor.

Just hope that one day, I can get a leave pass, travel to the UKicon/Franceicon to join of of his tours of the Somme battlefields surrounding Matinpuich.

Well Paul, you've just caught me literally going out the front door for another 2 weeks over there! Wife is giving me one of those 'We're supposed to be going on holiday NOW & you're on that forum AGAIN!' kind of looks.....

I will give your regards to the Aussie memorials in Pozieres, Mouquet Farm & VB. Back in a fortnight......

Must dash or my safety will be distinctly in danger. The look as now turned positively thunderous.

    Best to all.

Can anyone pass any further comments on the most unusual, almost absurd number matching of the cradle/cradle caps. If anyones telling me that this is genuine, then I'm a piccolo player............. Clearly the 'stamper' has no concept of English numbers and letters

It's weird, that's for sure. But the casting itself looks familiar.

I think the casting looks a bit TOOOOOOO rough..., if there is such a thing. If you do get it Paul, let me have a few sample filings and I'll see if the lab at Shriv will do an analysis of the content. Should be white heart (pure) or blackheart (impure) malleable cast as I seem to remember. The strange thing is that when we wanted 50+ or so to refurbish some needy L42's, the procurement people still specified the same material! Daft or what? We got them from the man/scoundrel wot rote thread 3! The also specified leather eye caps but relented for the plastic type scout regiment cases......... Like I said....., daft or what?

I often chuckle to myself when I hear about factory fresh and original L42's....... There's 40 or so out there from the last disposal batch that will have these repro brackets, albeit MoD spec and fitted at the Armourers shops prior to being back-loaded for refurbishment before the L96's took over.

Anyway, back to the bracket in question. I mean........ '& 1' and '& Z' and upside down to boot....... what sort of sequence is that? If you saw that on a Khyber Pass special it's be a......., well, Kyhber Pass special. Mind boggling
