Sounds like your tripod maybe a Mk1*, only the serial will confirm it.

I sold 5 top half’s about 3 years ago which went for about £120 each, the bottoms I had went for £50 each (all on the bay). The catch I’ve not seen for sale but it shouldn’t be to hard to make?

I think he’s after the locking button for the bayonet boss fitting on the head rather than the AA leg latch.

And here I was talking about the parts that you need to put an AA front leg together. No, I have not seen the tripod body part that he posted that he was looking for.
Sorry about that. Just a listing of needed AA front leg parts. Not that tripod body part.
Myself, took 4 rusted stuck into 1 piece mk2 traverse stops apart last night. Now after a lot of liquid wrench, vise, Large wrench and a little effort I have got everything apart and working. Ready for final cleaning. Now the mk2 stops are broken down into the basic parts, handle, block and body with screw and not to forget the cotter pin. For me it's fun to take the old stuff and bring it back to a working item. ENJOY LIFE.

My parts post came from this
"I’m also trying to find the two pieces AA leg extension if anyone has one."

42rocker..... thanks for your posts... I did finally pick up the correct AA front leg from BRP (I got just the front leg with AA arm and not the whole front leg assembly). The current leg on my tripod didn't have the gun mount arm. I haven't put it on but I assume it is as easy as sliding the old front leg out and sliding the new one in. The last parts I need are that bayonet mount button and the 2-piece AA leg extension and I can get my tripod back to MkI configuration. Sadly that bayonet button and AA leg extension set seems super impossible to find.

It is nice that both BRP and Apex have Bren tripod parts. That stuff is getting harder and harder to find.

Hat trick, it sounds like your tripod is a Mk1* so wouldn’t have had the AA option.

The reason for so few AA parts is that people convert the Mk1* tripods to Mk1 as it’s just a matter of swapping or adding some parts. If the serial is a H or later prefix then it would have been a 1*

  10. Thank You to Brit plumber For This Useful Post:

Saw the 2 piece pole AA extension at the last Knob Creek. Only problem is that it came with the tripod and a semi auto Bren. It was at the BRP table next to the one I was at. Got to stare at it for a while. The whole setup sold, not to me. I bought a few other things.
    Good Luck on your search.
Question on the rear legs? They have the pull pin that holds the extension legs in? If so great.

It's great to see that these parts are still available. Down here in NZicon Bren tripods are almost impossible to find. I'm not sure why but assume it's because most of the army stock was either destroyed or exported. The last couple I have seen have been uk or Canadianicon marked.

Plenty of NZicon Bren Tripods here in the UKicon, I think I have 3 or 4 NZ marked to go with some of my NZ /\ A marked guns.
