Reproduction High wood stock Won't work with M1 Carbine.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but I really need help with my Underwood 1943 M1icon Carbine. I ordered what I thought was going to be a beautiful, repro high wood stock. It came unstained and the first thing I did was coat linseed on it. I put all my metal on it (It didn't come with metal). Then I tried to place the rifle in, it fits in fine, but when I close the barrel band on the barrel band retainer and tighten, the band easily slides off.. Please help me, did this happen to anyone else with their stocks? Anything I can do to make it fit.

Available Rifle Stocks such as hand guards, trophy grips, low Wall stock, butt stock, sniper stock for sale.

Does the barrel band spring "hook" lock onto the barrel band?
Sometimes the spring, when inserted into the stock inlet, gets wedged into the stock and it cannot spring up as it should and lock onto the barrel band.

I've done a bit of research on those carbine stocks, and found there's been problems experienced with them. One report I looked at showed some obvious mistakes in machining of the wood. It was also reported that some factory seconds are being sold at discounted prices. I decided against them, but recently talked to a guy at a gun show who had nothing but praise for them. I hope your problem turns out to be a minor one. - Bob

    Bob,
Aren't these the Boyd Reject stocks?
    Now being sold by Dupage?

Yes, I believe that's correct. I had a link to a good article on them, but now can't find it. - Bob
