Smile The No4 in Action (Ranger Style)

My Ranger Patrol has a short Ex on the go this weekend. I'll try and get a survey of what we have been issued.

Last time I did an informal look over we had all LB No4 MkI* from '43-'51(?) and one post-war Faz Mk2.

Anyone interested in pics if I get a chance?

If any of them have the EAL conversion, I'd love pics of those...

Nope, they're all standard No 4's. The EAL's are all supposed to have been withdrawn, though I'm sure there's still some around up north.

EALs had pretty much disappeared in the North, too. They were issued after the supply of No. 4s in inventory was exhausted, and before a new stock was acquired through the purchase of rifles on the surplus market. They were not popular. Don't think they are being used by SAR Techs any longer, either.

It's hard to tell exactly what's in the inventory. For example, when our Patrol was initially issued rifles a beautiful Parker-Hale sporter came out of one of the boxes. It went back to Det. with the WO.

At one time there were 3 LB Ts, with 32TP scopes in inventory at NRHQ.

Those are nice rifles. Are they Patrol spares?

See those dowels on the side of the stock? They look like the bedding dowels I have on my DCRA rifle...
