    chilean Mauser

    Hi everyone!

I took my newely bought chilean Mauser (Steyr m1912 rebarelled in 308 Win) to the range and I set the target at 60 meters (other lanes being busy). I shot 40 rounds of 145 Gr FMJ and I have noticed that the rifle shoots low (about 6 inches between POA and POI). The groups where good and centered.

Being new to the Milsurp scene I want to ask you guys if this kind of result is normal and I want to know if the sights are designed for 308 or for the original caliber (7 mm Mauser).
Any help woud be highly appreciated!

    Thank You!

Does the rifle have a 2 groove barrel? Some were re-bored into 7.62mm with a sleeve/chamber insert. Others (short rifle) have Remington WWII 03-A3 barrels, these are 2 groove barrels. They all were nicely done and are nice shooters. Not really sure, but I guess the sights are the original 7mm sights.

My 2 groove barrel has a loose muzzle. Nice shooter, not common.

Try shooting wit hthe sights set for the range at which you are shooting. If I recall, the lowest setting is 300m, which means the bullet is still on its way "up" at 60m. It may shoot to point of aim at 300m as indicated on the sight.
