    S&W Victory .38 Special Revolver - markings

I was beginning to worry that someone had ground of the U.S.iconProperty Mark on my Victory Model, until I came across this site. The Collection - US Military Revolvers The 1942 version is shown without a mark on the top strap. Any thoughts? Everything else about mine fits the specs I seen.

All DSC purchases had no top strap markings as well as some OSS . Some 1942 USN direct purchases did not have any either . Most USN and the Army 3091s have " U.S. Navy " up top. The '42 2-inchers have " UNITED STATES PROPERTY ". Army ASPs after 4-43 ish have " U.S. PROPERTY " . The "P" proof appears on Army ASPs after 1-44 and on some Navy guns handled by the Army . Flaming bombs were on the '42 2-inchers , Army 3091s , Army DSC contracts (all on the butts ) and also Army ASPs after about 4-43 ( but on the left top strap) .
    Hope that clears it up.
    Chris
