    Ariska 38 Question

Tomorrow, I'm going to look at a Japaneseicon Ariska that was brought Stateside by the sellers father in the 1940s. He said it's in "very good" condition and still has the chrysanthemum on it. Supposedly, everything is intact and original. Any ballpark guess as to the value?
    Thanks,
    Bud

    If its complete $200-$300.

I paid $200 for my intact mum 38 this spring. Bayonet and sling will add to the value.

    just my 2 cents

Without knowing what Type (38 or 99) condition of wood and metal, whether matching and whether mum or not there is not much way to set a figure. Last week I paid $500 for a second series with serial number 8. It is in very good condition, all matching with AA wings and rod. Single digit rifles bring more money. Day or two ago I bought a T99 Series 6 in excellent condition, matching with rod, mum ground for $200. Best thing to do is buy the book Military Rifles of Japanicon and study. riceone

If complete, matching, nice and unground mum, figure north of $350 in Canadaicon. Less in the states, probably.

I paid $235 for a Mod 38 last spring. It had an intact mum and matching numbers. The barrel/action were in great shape (all blueing in good shape) but all the small parts were pretty worn. I wouldn't have paid that much if the mum had been ground off or defaced.
