    Imperial War Museum Duxford

Called in yesterday, good day out, was against the clock but worth a visit plus the sound of the Spitfire roaring over head.... also a P51 mustang, the pics of these are not that good plus battery run out when in the Land warfare section plus history of The East Anglian Regiment, and no pics of the American Air Museum.

Dont know what the schedule is regarding the flying Aircraft but you are a lot closer than a Air show. Must admit the Flying Aircraft hanger is an eyeopener, some nice examples of Private owned aircraft that maintained here etc,

Lots more to see but on a final note, if them 60 Spitfires do get recovered from Burma wonder if there will be enough spares to get this engine to turn over again ?

I dunno, but if you want an Allison from a P39 in about the same condition I can set you up!

Haven't been to Duxford in over ten years. Was over at the Fighter Collection getting measurements off of the Tomahawk. Also delivered a few odds and sods. You are not wrong about the "non-show" flying. The pilots are free to beat the place up as they see fit, apparently. Most impressive.

That was a big eye opener JM, the dive, climb and low level passes of the Spitfire were, Like you say Most impressive. The other thing that caught my eye on the way out was the " Haynes Manual for the Spitfire" covered all models.

Still, too funny! The manuals that leave you hanging when the real technical stuff comes up. Chiltons' would be better.

My P40 manuals are huge! Complete with battle damage repair.
