Just imagine if you could find a few new in the wrap, unopened, unfired mid 50's era No4 Mk2's! Do you think the new owner of this little gem will be opening it all up to fire a few rounds like they seem to do with identical No4's - as discussed on this very forum. I don't think so!

There appear to be more than a dozen... the purchasers are apparently being sworn to secrecy on the actual number.

The 'wrapped in cloth' description sound to me like the thick heavily waxed cloth impregnated paper that we used to have/use. I still see it occasionally. If this stuff got too hot, the wax part would melt into itself and amalgamate into a cloth sodden lump of lard. It was a bugger to get off as it wouldn't peel or unwrap. Mind you, it was very good protection.

A wee bit more than the US$500 Post '86 dealer's sample I used to have (in the care of a class III dealer friend). The most favored submachine gun of all that I've shot. Hard to justify $23,000 just for giggles, though.

BTW, I did manage to shoot a pile of detail photos (300 or so!) before it went away. Spent way too many hours trying to organize the album for a possible MKL entry, but have been short on time lately. Also need someone to do an introductory paragraph or two, because basically what little knowledge I have on these weapons has been primarily gained as a trigger puller.

Yep............, that's just how they went into Ordnance and came from Ordnance to the units. Just the gun on its own less the box and accessories. I say just buy one, open it and shoot it - just like the equally old No4's still new in the wrap
