People have been known to pay ~$100 just for the sights alone....

My wallet would of smoked out of my pocket for a blued M44 in that condition at that price. You lucked out. Havlin probally has the indicator behind the safety your missing.

GREAT little guns. Mine's gotten a few gophers.....

Those were sold by the CMPicon years ago (13 ~ 14 yrs?) for $70 for the better grade ones. I had three and sold one for about $250?? Still have two. They were used mostly or maybe only by the USNTS' in boot camp. I've seen pictures of the guys practicing with them at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in one of their yearbooks. Pretty cool! 1942 ~ 1943. Early one had Lyman Peep sites and later on they switched to their own Mossbererg "Microclick" peeps.

I realize this is an old thread, but you did pretty well. The CMPicon sold these by the truckload about 10 years ago. The trigger guards are nylon, so they had become brittle after 60 years, and they had no magazines. I remember picking up one to look at it at the CMP North store, and when I gently set it down on the rack again, the trigger guard fell off.

At that time they were going for $65 for the ones classified as "rusty" which as it turned out were mostly dried cosmolineicon, and $75 for the non "rusty" ones. It was about another $30 each for the mag and the replacement aluminum trigger guards, so after all was said and done, the total cost was about $125-$130 to get them right. The ones I have experience with are EXCELLENT shooters. I would assume the seller had similar money tied up in it.
So, 8-10 years later for them to only be about $200 ish seems reasonable considering.
There are blued and parkerized samples, and they almost always have lost one or more of the colored safety indicator buttons.
If you like accurate bolt .22 veterans, they are good choices for $200 or less in my opinion.
