Beat up 100% matching Gewehr 98.

I have an opportunity to buy an all matching Gewehr 98 from a friend for $600. He's firm on $600. This is probably the cheapest rilfe I"ve known him to have. It seems like a decent deal, but there is little to no reference material on these and nothing pricewise. I'm just going by my research and what I know to look for on K98's..

Made by Amburg dated 1917. Stock is correct beech type marked "B" with dissassembly lug. Has original Lange sight with "S" on barrel shank. Every numbered part down to the cleaning rod is 100% matching along with arsenal/proof stamps on secondary parts. Has pronounced lands at the crown with a strong, bright bore. Externally it looks like it was just pulled out of a trench after a year of heavy fighting. Most of the blueing is gone and the receiver (in the white) is heavily stained. The stock/handguard look fair for the most part with a few field repairs on the buttstock, but they are minor. He claims to have bought it from the vet's estate when he passed many years ago. There are no import marks, duffle cuts, Turk stamps, or post war rebuild marks of any kind. This seems like a legit WW1 bringback that came home the legal way. Only down side is the firing pin has been clipped at the end. I guess there was a restriction not to have a fireable weapon as a war trophy?? Sorry, I have no camera to get pics, but is $600 fair considering the overall described condition? I know 100% matching examples are scarce, but the ones I rarely see are in high end collections and look pristine.

Bottom line: Should I jump on it???

Seems not out of line. Firing pin could be retipped. But for shooting purposes, I'd just get another.
