This rifle has been bid up to $5581. Is it really worth that kind of money or is just a couple of guys with money that have to have it ?

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... The first sale went for 5024.00. Seller made out even better the second time around at 5800.00. For his sake, hope this is not another non-paying buyer.

It may pull some more out of the woodwork at that price. But will that price point hold? "Air" gets fairly thin at that level.

The 1931 Enfield No. 4 MK. I (T) rifle " A 1512 " is up for sale again on Gunbroker on 2017-05-24, this time with a mismatched, but correct model, No. 32 MK. I scope made by KL serial number 7180. Gunbroker auction 650163278 Seller is: 14tony on Gunbroker Arroyo Seco, NM, 87514, USAicon. His asking start price is USD $7,000.00

The wrist has two scope serial numbers. The cancelled earlier one appears to be 1240. The second and later scope serial number is 3504. Interestingly that same scope serial number 3504 was tentatively reported to be on the wrist of " A 0713 ", but when last reported, photographic confirmation was being sought.

No. 32 MK. III scope SN 21647 had earlier been put with this rifle by an owner, but it is now no longer with this rifle.

Perhaps he bought the rifle for the scope and had the rifle...? Stranger things...

Edited to update with explanation ...

    Necroposting

A necropost is a message that revives (as in necromancy) an arbitrarily old thread, causing it to appear above newer and more active threads. This practice is generally seen as a breach of netiquette on most forums. Because old threads are not usually locked from further posting, necroposting is common for newer users and in cases where the date of previous posts is not apparent.
